You Must Always Play Tight

The idea that one must always play tight only entering pots with strong hands is a common belief, particularly among novice players. While a tight strategy can be effective, especially in early positions or against aggressive opponents, it can also lead to predictability. Tight players may miss opportunities to exploit weaker opponents or capitalize on favorable situations. In many cases, playing a wider range of hands can be beneficial, especially in late positions where you have more information about your opponents’ actions. Adapting your strategy to the dynamics of the table is crucial; if you notice that your opponents are overly tight or passive, you can widen your range and apply pressure. Conversely, if the table is filled with aggressive players, it may be wise to tighten up. Flexibility and adaptation are vital in poker. A well rounded player can adjust their strategy based on the situation rather than ad hering rigidly to a tight or loose style.
